TWI has significant experience in assisting with the resolution of technical disputes between organisations. The extensive breadth and depth of knowledge gained within TWI over the years has led many companies to seek our expert opinion with respect to joining or material-related disputes and failure analysis, whether involving litigation, arbitration or simply when expert advice is required.

When we are involved at the early stages of a dispute, the impartial evidence we generate has, in many cases, been sufficient for both parties to reach an agreement without the cost and time implications of proceeding to court.

Should agreement not be reached and the case reach court, TWI can provide expert witnesses with appropriate qualifications and experience.

What might begin as a welding problem could require expert input from many other disciplines, such as non-destructive examination, metallurgy, corrosion, structural integrity (fatigue, fracture mechanics) and design.

All of this experience is available in-house at TWI, enabling us to provide a seamless service.

TWI can act for any companies, with the following caveats:

  • TWI will not act for a non-Member company in a dispute involving a Member company
  • Should both companies be Members of TWI, we will act for the first of the companies to contact us and inform the other company of our intention.
