Senior Leader Apprenticeship Applications Now Open

Mon, 20 March, 2023

Senior managers at TWI Industrial Member companies are invited to apply to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship (SLA) programme, which is being offered by TWI in conjunction with the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC).

Now accepting applications for the 2023/24 cohort, this apprenticeship programme propels lifelong learning ambitions and enhances high level management skills for senior leaders.

The deadline for applications for this opportunity is 30 June 2023, with the course due to start in October 2023 and be taught over 18 months.

Working closely with experts and experienced professionals, the course includes mentorship and support as you engage with dynamic learning environments to gain valuable insights and professional development towards being able to lead with clarity, confidence and vision.

The blended, work-based programme includes modules around financial decision-making, strategy, dynamic leadership and meeting the complex challenges that are reshaping the modern workplace.

The course is taught across five study days per module, with four modules to complete. The study days will be broken down into two blocks including face-to-face and online seminars, real-world projects and interactive classroom activities.

Fully funded by the Apprenticeship Levy, this SLA was designed by employers and the Chartered Management Institute in alignment with the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship Standard. This course, which includes the allocation of £14,000 in funding from the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), has been designed by De Montfort University (DMU) and Leicester Castle Business School to deliver varied management skills, producing successful graduates with the strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills required for business leaders to succeed.

The programme is now open for applicants with senior management experience who wish to expand their knowledge, skills and behaviours to strengthen their future career. Applicants must be employed by an organisation that will support their participation in the programme along with:

  • A minimum of 2 years management experience and a degree at 2:1 or above or,
  • Strategic management experience (3 years minimum), and a strong track record of achievements in business and/or relevant professional qualifications.

Upon completing the programme you will receive a Level 7 post-graduate diploma in Business Administration awarded by DMU, and a Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship. This SLA also gives you the opportunity to gain Chartered Manager status (CMgr MCMI) through the End Point Assessment module. There is also the opportunity, once the course has been completed and passed, to top up to MBA (at a cost).
