The Welding Institute’s Structures and Infrastructure Technical Group is launching its first back-to-basics webinar titled, ‘Welding Basics for Engineers – Optimal Joint Design for Welding’ on the 5 July 2022, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM (UK Time).
Following on from the successful launch of their back-to-basics webinar series earlier this year, with the Welding and Joining Processes Technical Group, this Structures and Infrastructure Technical Group event will explore optimal joint design for welding.
Poor welded joint design and misunderstanding can result in additional costs and lower quality welds.
Attendees will get an insight into some of the issues associated with poor joint design, and gain guidance on:
- how to avoid problems
- when to question requirements
- how to provide the best solutions
This webinar is aimed at design engineers, draughting personnel, welding engineers, inspection and testing personnel, fabrication supervisors and fabrication planners working in civil engineering and construction, typically steelwork for bridges and buildings.
Speaker Panel and Presentations:
Julian French, Partner at Sandberg LLP
Problems associated with poor joint design
Tom Cosgrove, Consultant at Sandberg LLP
Designing optimum joints for welding
This online event will be of interest to:
- those with little or no knowledge of welding technology
- those just entering the welding industry
- those wanting to gain an appreciation of the subject
- engineers who feel the need for a refresher
- anyone with an interest in welding
