TWI’s Lasers Section Manager, Paola De Bono is chairing a two-day online workshop dedicated to the advancement of e-Mobility.
The event, which has been organised by the Association of Industrial Laser Users (AILU), will take place from 8-9 July 2020 and includes input from experts from Fraunhofer ILT, Luxinar, Nuburu UK, SPI Lasers, Comau, Laserline Germany, Ford, Vodafone, Coherent, Precitec, IPG Photonics and TWI.
Topics to be discussed include battery welding applications, laser welding and technology, artificial intelligence aided automation, 5G telecoms, Industry 4.0, multi-material joining with fibre lasers, applications in e-Mobility, and more. There will also be time for discussions around the various topics.
As the use of petrol-powered vehicles gives way to the growth in electric vehicle (EV) production there will soon be a point when e-mobility becomes the norm. However, there are number of challenges yet to be overcome before this point is reached in line with Government policy to meet net zero emissions by 2050.
The challenges include light-weighting of components, process and welding developments, in-production quality assurance, improved safety and prototyping.
Laser technology is key to the growth of electrification within the automotive industry due to its ability to perform high speed, high quality, precise processing at a relatively low cost.
This webinar gives you the opportunity to hear from equipment-providers, end-users, academic and industrial researchers in e-mobility, who will provide information on the latest technology and research in this growing field.
