Kevin Dunn Appointed As New AWFTE Chair

Wed, 27 February, 2019

The AWFTE (Association for Welding, Fabrication, Training and Education) have appointed a new chair.

Kevin Dunn, curriculum team leader for welding and fabrication at Middlesbrough College, is set to take up the role.

Already a Member of The Welding Institute and an active participant in the activities of the Teesside Branch of the Institute, Kevin has held various committee roles over the years.

While he has formed strong links with local industry and TWI Ltd, Kevin looks set to continue the good work of the AWFTE in inspiring and supporting the next generation of welders.

The AWFTE is a membership association dedicated to welder training and fabrication professionals in the education and training sector. Members receive the latest information on national, European and international matters affecting their work and are all offered complimentary Associate AWeldI Membership of The Welding Institute.

In addition, AWFTE members are given the opportunity to participate in projects such as the development of the National Welder Training Standard and the preparation of occupational standards. They are also kept abreast of the latest information on standards, technical innovations, national occupational standards and qualifications, and skills competitions.

Furthermore, AWFTE membership provides a pathway to secure valuable links with key organisations including the DfES, DfWP, Sector Skills Councils, QCA/SQA, HSE, and all the Awarding Bodies associated with welding.

We would like to congratulate Kevin on his appointment and wish him all the best in his new role.
