Reflecting TWI’s active and consultative role on many committees at any one time, governing a large number of national and international standards, Technology Fellow and Technology Manager for Plastics at TWI, Mike Troughton is delighted to be a member of the BSI WEE/3 Committee which has representatives from a cross section of industry including OMEs, Tier 1 suppliers, consultants and welding equipment manufacturers.
The draft standard BS 89100has now been made available for public consultation. George Thirlaway, Chairman of the BSI WEE/3 Committee would like to take public comments up until 21 August 2017 via the BSI website. Those wishing to comment should simply visit:https://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/where it takes a few moments to register with the site, after which registrants are able to read and comment on the draft standard by typing ‘89100’ into the ‘Search’ box.
Mike Troughton, TWI explains ‘We are looking for interested parties to provide us with as much feedback as possible, so that the resultant standard is fit for purpose and meets the needs of industry users now and in the future.’ ‘Following the consultation, there will be a two month period during which all comments are evaluated, then a further two months’ during which any appropriate revisions are made to the standard, after which the ratified standard will be published.’
