The Welding Institute has launched a new technical group to provide an opportunity for individuals involved in manufacturing to get together to discuss latest developments and share new ideas.
The Manufacturing Technical Group replaces the previous Advanced Structures Technical Group, placing a renewed focus on aspects of manufacturing such as design, performance, forming, cutting, heat treatment, fabrication and distortion control. Other topics likely to be touched on at the group's annual meetings include manufacturing support systems and associated standards, including welding coordination and factory production control for CE marking.
Anyone whose work involves any of the subjects listed above is sure to find attendance at the group's yearly meetings beneficial. Each day-long meeting features high-profile speakers from industry and provides excellent continual professional development and networking opportunities.
The new group's inaugural meeting will take place on Tuesday 5 April 2016, at TWI's Great Abington headquarters. Full details of the event, including the speakers and programme, will be announced closer to the time.
Attendance at technical group meetings costs £35 plus VAT for Professional Members of The Welding Institute and members of TWI's Industrial Member companies, and £95 plus VAT for non-members.
The Welding Institute hosts a total of eight technical groups, covering the following areas: materials, offshore oil and gas, pressure and process plant, welding processes, structural integrity, polymers, and non-destructive testing and condition monitoring.
