The Welding Institute wishes to congratulate WorldSkills participant Reece Taylor, who secured a medallion of excellence for his welding efforts at WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.
The 21-year-old, who previously took part in national welding competition SkillWeld, supported by The Welding Institute, managed to earn the medallion despite having broken his wrist three weeks before the event. He was one of 12 young people representing the UK at the international competition, which saw more than 1000 participants battling it out for medals in more than 40 disciplines, ranging from web design to bricklaying.
Reece, an apprentice at Dyer Engineering and student at Derwentside College in County Durham, contributed to an impressive medal haul for the UK team. In total they brought home 33 medals, including three golds.
The next WorldSkills competition will take place in Abu Dhabi in 2017. For more information visit www.worldskills.org.
