A delegation from TWI will fly the flag for UK business this week when it travels to India to deliver technical presentations at a number of international conferences.
As well as visiting Member companies based in the subcontinent, TWI representatives will speak at India's largest welding conference and two events focusing on India's burgeoning automotive industry.
This Wednesday (21 January), TWI will attend the Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) 2015, a four-day event expected to welcome 1800 delegates from 25 different countries.
Taking place at the premises of the Automotive Research Association of India in Pune, SIAT 2015 will combine a 200-stall exhibition with a conference featuring 44 keynote presentations, with the overarching theme: 'Towards a safer, cleaner and quieter world'.
TWI's Dr Farshad Salamat-Zadeh will present at the event under the title: 'Welding of plastics components best practice and assessment of joint integrity'. The conference will provide a good opportunity for TWI to share the results of some of the research it has been carrying out into improving joining and inspection of plastics, and to promote its training courses in plastic welding.
While SIAT 2015 is underway, TWI corporate development manager Chris Wiseman will be presenting at India's National Welding Seminar, the country's largest welding show. Around 350 representatives are expected to attend the event in the east-Indian city of Jamshedpur, where Mr Wiseman will present on recent advances in welding, joining and surfacing technologies.
Then next week, on 28 January, Dr Salamat-Zadeh will contribute to another event related to the Indian automotive sector. The UK Automotive Expertise workshop, taking place at the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai, aims to highlight to Indian automotive companies the potential benefits of collaborating with UK businesses.
TWI will be one of three British businesses providing technical presentations at the workshop, which has been organised by UK Trade & Investment, a government department working to further the interests of UK businesses overseas.
Each of the events will provide an excellent platform for TWI to transfer technical knowledge to businesses based in India, including a number of individual Member companies.
