Project MERLIN workshop 11 December 2014, IK-4 LORTEK, Spain
Current buy-to-fly ratios in the manufacture of civil aero engines result in massive amounts of waste. Furthermore toxic chemicals and expensive tools are required for manufacturing. The MERLIN project is reducing the environmental impact of air transport using laser additive manufacturing techniques such as selective laser melting and laser metal deposition.
TWI has prepared a recent case study looking at the reduction in manufacturing times made possible through the use of these technologies.
The free dissemination workshop looking at the success of the project and the impact on industry will take place on 11 December 2014 at IK-4 LORTEK, Spain. Please see our workshop webpage or contact Ms Eider Otano on +34 943 882 203, e-mail lortek@lortek.es
