Online event - Monday 20 October 2014
TWI presents a webinar session on friction stir welding in steel, exploring the background and highlighting efforts to quantify the property improvements that the process brings to steel.
In a programme led by process expert Mike Russell, participants will learn about the background to friction stir welding - its invention at TWI in 1991, its development, and how it is making the transition from light metals such as aluminium and magnesium, to steel. Mike will cover the benefits of friction stir for welding high-performance, challenging-to-weld steels as well as talking about opportunities for joining the research effort working towards early commercialisation of the welding technique in steel.
