Global changes in legislation are still driving an expansion in demand for plastics welder training and certification. The changes mean that certification is now required to guarantee the skill and knowledge of welders when installing plastic fabrications. TWI is perfectly positioned to respond by delivering quality training in plastics welding processes, supported by internationally recognised CSWIP certification.
TWI's plastics welder training and certification programme includes Hot Gas and Extrusion Welding, Butt Fusion and Electrofusion and Welding of Lining Membranes. Demand continues to grow around the world, and TWI has been able to respond quickly to changes in the market, developing its offering effectively and tailoring courses to the clients' needs, especially in new markets such as the Middle East, Malaysia and the African states of Uganda and Nigeria.
Ramky Enviro Engineers, whose global headquarter is located in Hyderabad, India and regional head office is based in Dubai is in the business of waste management and environmental engineering. In its endeavour to upgrade the skills of its team in the area of plastic welding for liners installation for landfill construction, Ramky requested TWI to impart necessary training for their team. TWI's instructors Andy Knight and Tony Kraus flew out to India to certify a team of ten personnel on the plastics welder programme under CSWIP (Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel) in Extrusion and Heated Wedge Welding through both theory and practical sessions.
The on-site welding course concluded with each candidate undertaking a 20-question multiple-choice paper and practical examinations. Welded test pieces produced by the candidates were brought back to the UK for independent third-party testing. Successful completion of the course led to all of the candidates gaining a standard (to EN 13067, Approval Testing of Plastic Welders) qualification in extrusion and heated wedge welding of geomembranes.
