After the success of his cooking workshop with Cambridge charity the Meadows Children and Family Wing, TWI chef Nigel Tumber was invited back into the community to run a Risotto evening for a group of Ranger Guides.
Teaching the girls how to prepare a basic risotto and choose complimentary flavours, Nigel provided the girls with the opportunity to cook a dish they previously hadn't thought about attempting. The Guides soon said they couldn't wait to make a risotto back at home.
The girls worked in pairs and with a number of different flavour combinations, picking those they liked before seeing how differing tastes worked. Some cooked with combinations Nigel hadn't considered . . . and he thoroughly enjoyed the results!
And the best part of the evening? Well, it proved to be in the tasting of course. 'I liked cooking the food and tasting everyone else's,'said one of the girls. Other comments included: 'I liked watching the demonstration and seeing how skilfully the chef cooked,' and 'The whole evening was fantastic!'
The Ranger Guides declared unanimously that they would like to take part at another cooking event organised by Nigel and TWI.
