An engineering apprenticeship with TWI provides the opportunity to learn the skills needed to become a fully qualified Engineering Technician and begin your career with world-class experience behind you. Our four-year course combines on-the- job training with academic study at a local college and a generous wage throughout the scheme, including when you're studying.
The training requires hard work and dedication but will be highly rewarding and will equip you with the principles of welding technology, which offers a broad spectrum of interest and is reflected in the range of laboratories required in our world-class research and development organisation. As well as a comprehensive training programme, you'll study towards a number of qualifications including:
- BTEC National Diploma in Engineering
- ONC and HNC
- Advanced Apprenticeship Certificate.
Your training will take the following format: Working alongside other qualified Technicians to learn the requirements of the day-to-day work needed to support the work of our engineers, involving the construction and use of apparatus for experimental work, the recording and interpretation of test results and other features of scientific investigation. We're looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals with GCSE Math's, English and a Science at Grade C or above with the ability to:
- work hard towards the completion of all college work
- work as a team to develop problem solving and communication skills
