TWI offers a range of plastics welding training courses for welders of differing abilities, from those with no previous knowledge of plastics welding to experienced welders. Already this year, our in-house specialist plastics welder trainer Andy Knight flew to Escravos in Nigeria to deliver a training course designed specifically for the needs of Chevron's Nigerian based contractor, Baywood and Dextron Ventures Ltd. Almost immediately afterwards, he flew to Uganda to train another group of six people at CSWIP Entry Level in Extrusion and Hot Wedge Welding for Geomembrane Lining.
The contractor, SWS, a steel fabrication company, had identified that in order to complete the project, employees would need to learn specific skills in plastics welding. TWI was able to deliver their exact training requirements, ensuring they had the competence to complete the work to the required standards.
The six candidates were thrilled to complete the CSWIP course and examination in just three days, giving them an internationally recognised certification.
Andy commented 'It was a real pleasure to teach the team and they really did enjoy the course. We ensured they all got a lot of hands-on practical experience, so they would really know what they were doing when it came to the real thing.'
Global changes in legislation are driving an expansion in demand for plastics welder training and certification across Africa. The changes mean that certification is required to guarantee the skill and knowledge of welders when installing plastic fabrications. TWI is perfectly positioned to respond to this demand by delivering quality training in plastics welding processes, supported by internationally recognised CSWIP certification. Environmental waste regulations are also informing various projects where complex linings must adhere to specific regulations.
Certification in Plastics Welding
TWI offers certification aligned to the British and European standard for approved testing of plastics welders (BS EN 13067) and also entry level certification, via the internationally recognised Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel (CSWIP).
