TWI is a partner in the European FP7 project NozzleInspect. The project objective is to develop a robot mounted system capable of detecting millimetric defects in nozzles and other a crucial components of a nuclear power plant.
Dimos Liaptsis of TWI's facility in Port Talbot, Wales explains: "By using these data, we can identify any defects, and then we can characterise them. They can be either cracks, or porosity, or other defaults inside the material.'
A report and video on the project is now available on the Euronews website and will be accessible week beginning Monday 12 December week on YouTube and other smaller regional streaming online websites.
