Failure Investigation of Welded Moulded Plastic Components

Webinars 13 November 2019

TWI FREE Webinar: Failure Investigation of Welded Moulded Plastic Components at 3pm UK Time

Is it for me?

This webinar is suitable for anyone working in fields related to automotive, medical or domestic appliances that involve the use of plastic components that need to be welded. This includes designers, engineers and manufacturers of complex moulded plastic parts.

What will I learn?

Plastic moulded components are used across a range of industries and applications, meaning that an understanding of joining is essential for anyone involved in material selection, design or fabrication.

TWI’s close relationship with a number of industrial companies means that we have seen many failures associated with poor quality welding of moulded plastic components.

This webinar will discuss methods for investigating and assessing weld quality, including visual inspection, pressure/burst tests, microtoming, digital radiography and computed tomography.

What will I leave with?

Webinar attendees will gain a sound working knowledge of the best methods for assessing weld quality and flaws in moulded plastic component joins. You will also gain an insight into the design rules that should be adhered to in order to attain the best quality weld. In addition to design, fabrication and examination of these welds.
