TWI Ltd is leading a European project consortium to create training modules for a harmonised standard of qualification in the car body repair sector. The CARBOREP project, which has been co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, plans to create a curriculum and examination for training European Car Body Repair Technicians in processes such as welding, mechanical fastening and adhesive bonding.
The curriculum is in the final stages of its development and, although its ultimate aim is the repair rather than replacement of vehicles, it maintains a focus on the work being done to a recognised standard to ensure safety, while potentially reducing the waste of resources associated with writing off cars following accidents.
The training looks set to interest stakeholders such as car manufacturers, insurance companies, repair garages, national and international bodies and associations for automotive repair and vocational training providers.
This free seminar, hosted in conjunction with The Welding Institute's Association for Welding Fabrication, Training and Education (AWFTE) aims to provide insight into the course background, curriculum and training materials.
