Application of AM and data analytics in process plant

Technical Groups 07 November 2019

Pressure and Process Plant Technical Group Meeting:
The application of additive manufacturing and data analytics in pressure and process plant

Who is it for?

This meeting, as with all Technical Group meetings, is for anyone who wishes to discuss and gain information on the latest developments in additive manufacturing, data analytics and novel welding methods for pressure and process plants. This annual meeting will offer attendees a unique opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest, promoting the exchange of ideas and sharing experience, as well as hearing from leading researchers and engineering practitioners who offer a unique insight and perspective into their area of expertise.

Additive manufacturing and data analytics in pressure and process plant

Additive manufacturing has the potential to reduce overall production costs, while also lowering waste and energy usage. It is particularly suited to trial different component prototypes and customise them to specific applications. Where obsolescence of parts is a problem in extending the life of plants and equipment, additive manufacturing can help provide cost effective solutions.

The application of data analytics in managing plant maintenance is also increasing. Key drivers for this include the need to reduce human exposure to hostile environments and developments in the reliability and cost-effectiveness of monitoring and computing technology. Data analytics have shown clear benefits where inspection for damage or degradation is expensive or not possible at all. In situations where damage cannot be directly measured, data analytics enables ‘indirect measurement’, where data on factors causing such damage is available.

This meeting presents an opportunity to hear from a wide range of experts discussing the application of these two key technologies in regard to pressure and process plant.
