Section Manager – Friction and Forge Processes

Prior to working with TWI, Steve studied both his BEng and PhD at Sheffield Hallam University, where he was also employed as a Materials Engineer within the Materials and Engineering Research Institute (MERI). Steve then joined TWI in 2013 as a Senior Project Leader in the Friction & Forge Processes team, before being positioned as Section Manager in February 2016.

Technology Fellow - Surface Engineering

Dave Harvey is Technology Fellow for Surface Engineering in TWI's Materials Group and has specialised in thermal spraying and other coating technologies for over 20 years. For the last 10 years, his work has included focus on the cold spray technology and its industrial application, involving studies related to  process equipment, powder feedstock development and the characterisation and testing of cold spray deposited materials.

Chris is an experienced manufacturing engineer in a variety of material joining processes relevant to multiple industry sectors.

With a sound knowledge of facilities and expertise at TWI, his role includes management of TWI industrial membership interactions and assisting industry to access TWI’s unique range of member services to benefit their business.

Nick Edge - Business Development Consultant

Nick Edge

Business Development Consultant

Nick Edge had been working with TWI for over 30 years before joining the company in 2018 as a Business Development Consultant focusing on joining and the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

Nick has worked in many industries, but particularly the automotive industry in the UK, USA and around the world. He helped OEMs and tier 1 suppliers to develop new parts using friction welding and other joining techniques as well as working on the testing of EV power trains.

His primary focus is now on the changing materials and joining techniques needed for the revolution that is happening in the automotive market.
