Queen's Award for TWI Member company

Air Products plc was recently awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2007 for its Integra© cylinders and Maxx© gas ranges.

The award was presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire to Professor John Irven, Director of Products Packaged Gases. Dr Bob John, TWI CEO was a guest at the ceremony in recognition of the long association between Air Products and TWI which began in 1964.

It is the eighth award received by Air Products since 1968 and the second for innovation.

Professor John Irven, Director of Technology, Air Products Packaged Gases, said: "We are extremely proud to receive the Queen's Award for Innovation, for our Integra cylinders and Maxx gases. We have been listening to our customers' requirements and developed cylinders that are lighter, easier to handle and safer with their integrated valve and gas control functions, and shielding gases that give improved environmental and safety performance, whilst increasing quality and productivity."

Ivo Bols, Vice President, Air Products Packaged Gases, concludes: "The Queen's Award for Innovation is for each and all our employees who have been involved in the Integra cylinder and Maxx gases success. It demonstrates our team istrue to its value of building lasting relationships with their customers based on understanding, integrity and passion."

The award was presented at the MMU Crewe Campus, in front of Air Products employees, customers, suppliers and agents. A welding demonstration, using Air Products' Integra cylinders and Maxx gases, was carried out during the ceremony.
