The doors of the purpose built facility of TWI Technology Centre (Yorkshire) Ltd recently opened on the Advanced Manufacturing Park at Waverley, near Rotherham. Located on a two-acre site, the £2M development took just over seven months to construct.
The Technology Centre houses some of the most advanced materials processing facilities available.
Colin Walters, who headed up the building project, commented, 'The opening of this facility is a key stage in the expansion of TWI around the world. The opportunity that was afforded to us by the development of the Advanced Manufacturing Park was too good to miss.'
Iain Smith, TWI Yorkshire's Business Manager, added, 'This project would not have been possible without the support and vision of Yorkshire Forward, Renaissance South Yorkshire and Objective 1, who have successfully brought together some of the key players in the field of Advanced Manufacturing. This arrangement has already seen increased collaboration between the companies involved, and with more organisations moving on to the AMP very shortly, we are expecting the level of collaboration to increase further.'
