Connect, no. 141, March - April 2006, p.7
Envirowise, the organisation through which a government-funded programme of free environmental advice is delivered to businesses, is urging electronics and electrical companies to take advantage of free services available to help them prepare for the introduction of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive in the summer of 2006.
To help businesses prepare for compliance, Envirowise is encouraging companies to sign up to its free and confidential design track service, which focuses on minimising the environmental impact of a product over its entire lifecycle.
In the UK and throughout the EU, TWI is also supporting businesses working to address the challenges of compliance with RoHS and WEEE legislation.
In addition, TWI is also a partner in two EU funded projects: Leadout and Flexnolead. These address issues faced by business seeking to introduce lead-free solder to both flexible and rigid circuit assemblies.
