SkillWELD finalist heads for the top

Following the successful final of the SkillWELD 2002 competition held at TWI last year, Amy Durant, one of the finalists, has been selected to represent the UK at the Skills Olympics to be held at St Gallan, Switzerland in July 2003.

Amy is to be congratulated for impressing the judges so much that she was the judges' first choice as the UK representative - the first female welder to do so!

Amy was one of the team who helped construct the stainless steel sculpture on the SkillWELD stand at SkillCity 2002 Salford in November 2003. This statue drew its inspiration from the creations of L S Lowry and building the sculpture during the Show provided am impressive illustration of welding skills at work.
