SkillWELD 2000

Welding is a process which underpins manufacturing construction and weld quality depends on the craft skill of the operator. To help those involved it has been decided to hold a competition to identify the best welders under training. It is open to trainees who have been undergoing training for a minimum of six months and are producing work in line with BS EN 287. There will be 12 regional competitions held throughout the UK and the regional winners will compete in the SkillWELD National Final to be held at TWI in April 2000.

AWS Exposition 2000

TWI will be exhibiting at the AWS International Welding and Fabricating exposition in Chicago (26-28 April 2000). Located in Booths 2061 and 2062, friction stir welding a range of software will be demonstrated with presentations on services to industry.

The IIW Asian Pacific Regional Congress

This congress, to be held in Australia 29 October - 2 November 2000, aims to bring together people from a wide range of industry, research and academic backgrounds to provide an environment for discussion of modern trends and current advances in the ever increasing and demanding field of materials welding and joining.

NACExpo 2000 26-31 March 2000

TWI will be taking part in the Technical Sessions, Conference and will have a stand (Booth No. 832) at NACExpo 2000 to be held in Orlando, USA in March 2000. Our staff will be available for discussion regarding the complete range of TWI activities, current and proposed Joint Industry Projects and to discuss any specific issues and problems your organisation may have regarding materials and corrosion.
