Successful launch of fume GSP

Representatives from vehicle manufacturers, raw material suppliers and the Health & Safety Executive contributed to an informative and successful launch meeting of the project Fume emissions from spot welding through sealants, adhesives, oils and coated materials. The Inaugural Meeting of the proposed project has been scheduled for 12 October 1999 at TWI.

Make It With Lasers TM Innovation Award 1999

The sponsors of the Make It With Lasers TM programme invite nominations for the 1999 award. This annual award is intended to raise awareness of laser technology in industry and will be made to a company which, in the judges' opinion, has applied laser technology to achieve outstanding benefits in productivity, quality and profitability. Latest date for receipt of nominations is 30 September 1999.

New CD-ROM provides corrosion data for duplex stainless steels


TWI has supported NPL in development of a CD-ROM to help industry obtain information on the corrosion performance of duplex stainless steels. It aims to define safe operating limits in environments ranging from marine to oil production and refining. It has a section on industrial experience and a database of over 6000 data entries on general corrosion data, stress corrosion cracking and pitting and crevice corrosion data. This tool is invaluable for any company dealing with duplex stainless steels or to help in materials selection. The software is available with a first licence cost of £395+VAT. Cost for additional licences on the same site is available on request.
