TWI North has recently launched two new programmes aimed at boosting business opportunities for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in North East England.

TWI is managing the first of these, Pipeline and Offshore Technology & Training (POTT), in collaboration with the Northern Offshore Federation. This project aims to increase business for companies working in the pipeline and offshore sector. It will include subsidised use of the UK's largest indoor deepwater diving and underwater technologies tank housed at TWI North in Middlesbrough.

The state-of-the-art tank meets the needs of subsea/offshore operators from underwater training and qualification of personnel, to equipment testing and development, inspection and calibration.

The second Technology Transfer programme Joining Forces - North East is a TWI programme allowing access to and evaluation of best practice in materials joining technology and training.

Both programmes allow companies the opportunity to access and evaluate best practice throughout industry through a range of technology transfer media including local and regional training/technology workshops; expert-led consultancy and feasibility studies carried out by TWI specialists and accredited associates. The advice and support given is either free or provided at a greatly reduced cost.

For further information on either of these programmes and details of events contact Eileen Cunningham, TWI North enquiry line 01642 210512, Fax: 01642 252218.
