Tat-Hean Gan

Director of Membership, Innovation and Global Operations

Tat-Hean has a First Class Honours Degree in electrical and electronics engineering, University of Nottingham, an MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering with distinction and a PhD in engineering specialising in advanced ultrasonic imaging, both University of Warwick, and an Executive MBA, University of Birmingham. He has worked as an academic and in industry for many years, published more than 100 papers and contributed to several books on non-destructive testing (NDT). Tat-Hean obtained CEng, EurIng and IntPE(UK) status and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing, the International Society of Condition Monitoring, the International Society of Engineering Asset Management and The Welding Institute. He is also a Professor at Brunel University London, where he is also the Professor of Structural Integrity in the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences.

As well as being TWI’s Director of Membership, Innovation and Global Operations, Tat-Hean led the creation of the £1.2 billion TWI Innovation Network which comprises an international network of RTOs, SMEs, large enterprises and universities. He is Director of the TWI-based National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC), the UK’s first industry-led postgraduate education and research centre in structural integrity, and Director of Brunel Innovation Centre (BIC), a partnership between Brunel University London and TWI, as well as currently managing TWI’s Core Research Programme.

Group Regional Manager (APAC)

Mr Venkat Ayyala, an accomplished professional with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from BITS Pilani, India, brings over three decades of versatile leadership experience. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held pivotal roles in both local and multinational industries, including DEWA and ARAMCO. His extensive responsibilities have encompassed plant inspection in offshore and onshore oil and gas and fertilizer facilities, as well as maintenance and inspection of power and desalination units.

Presently, Venkat serves as the Group Regional Manager (APAC) at TWI, where he leads a team of country managers responsible for diverse operational aspects. His expertise extends to crafting effective business strategies, meticulous planning, successful execution, team building, budgeting, and making significant contributions to the development of innovative academic programmes.

 

 

Adnan Abdul Ghaffar Rana - Group Regional Manager, MECA

Group Regional Manager, MECA

Adnan is the Group Regional Manager for MECA, also as an approved lecturer he delivers technical courses such as Welding Inspection, Painting Inspection and other industry-specified training 

With 15+ years of experience and expertise in Manufacturing Power Plants, Piping, Pipelines, and Steel Structures and an educational background with a Bachelor's in Nuclear Engineering from Al-Fateh University, Tripoli, Libya. Adnan's forte includes Project Management, Concept Design, Inspection, Specification, Procedure Preparation and Tender Evaluation.

Equipped with Technical Certifications in Digital Product Design, Vacuum Science & Technology, Application of Vibration, CSWIP 3.1 (Welding Inspector), BGAS 2 (Painting Inspector), CSWIP 3.2.1 (Senior Welding Inspector), Welder Examiner, IWE (International Welding Engineer), API 570 Piping Inspector, API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector.

Manager – Fracture Integrity Management section, Materials and Structural Integrity Group

Muhammad is a Chartered Engineer and joined TWI in 2007 after completing his PhD in fatigue of materials. He is currently the Section Manager of the Asset and Fracture Integrity Management Group. Muhammad has been working on projects involving Fitness-For-Purpose assessment of structures used in various industrial sectors i.e. oil and gas, process industry, power. Many of these projects involved materials testing and fracture mechanics based ECA to various standards. Muhammad is also experienced in fracture mechanics testing in sour environment and is currently involved in developing new techniques for testing in this area. He has also been working on projects involving technical disputes and has experience of working as an expert witness in arbitrations.

Section Manager, Technology Innovation Management (TIM)

Ujjwal leads a team of experts that brings about innovation in engineering. This is by interacting with stakeholders, analysing situations that need resolving or improving, and developing business propositions to gain funding to develop solutions.

Ujjwal has worked on a variety of proposals and delivered complex projects such as those developing approaches to enable asset operators make optimum decisions based on a multiple criteria, particularly those leading to measurements of risk and life cycle sustainability of processes and asset systems. His experience affords him the ability to work in a variety of industry sectors and a range of technology readiness levels.

Ujjwal has been with TWI since 2005. He is a Fellow of The Welding Institute (FWeldI), a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a PRINCE2 certified practitioner. He obtained his Doctor of Engineering (EngD) degree from Loughborough University based on his work on approaches to risk-based life management of offshore structures and equipment. He read for an MSc in Risk Management from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering from Mangalore University, India.
