Who is the CSWIP 3.1U course for?
The CSWIP 3.1U course is designed for qualified commercial divers who wish to gain an internationally recognised NDT inspection certification. It is suitable for those seeking to enter the subsea inspection sector or to formalise existing inspection experience with a recognised qualification. Candidates must hold an approved commercial diving qualification and a current HSE approved full commercial diver medical certificate prior to attending.
What does the course cover?
The course covers theoretical instruction to the CSWIP approved syllabus, general underwater and close visual inspection, cathodic protection measurements, ultrasonic digital thickness measurements, and recording by video and photography. What are the entry requirements?
Candidates must hold an approved commercial diving qualification and an HSE approved, in-date, full commercial diver medical certificate. Verification of these requirements is requested at the point of booking. The TWI team can provide guidance on eligibility prior to any commitment being made.
Which syllabus does the course follow?

How do I progress after completing the 3.1U?
The CSWIP 3.1U is the entry point on TWI's Topside and Underwater Inspection programme. Following successful certification, candidates may progress to the CSWIP 3.2U (NDT Inspection Diver), then to the CSWIP 3.3U (ROV Inspector), and ultimately to the CSWIP 3.4U (Underwater Inspection Controller). Each qualification builds on the last, providing a structured and recognised route to senior inspection roles.
