TWI Core Research Programme Annual Symposium 2023

Conferences 07 December 2023

Bringing together industry leaders to connect, discover and innovate – 2nd TWI Core Research Programme Annual Symposium, 2023

We are excited to announce that we are hosting the second TWI Core Research Programme Annual Symposium on Thursday, 7 December 2023, 08.30 – 16.30 GMT, in person at TWI Cambridge, UK. This event is exclusively for TWI Industrial Member company representatives and offers a unique opportunity to come together, interact with the Core Research Programme (CRP), and steer the future direction of research and development (R&D) activities at TWI.

There will be a showcase of over 35 CRP projects being undertaken at TWI in the fields of digitalisation and data, net zero, smart manufacturing, and new materials and circular economy. Delegates will have the opportunity to:

  • Attend a technology forum and listen to elevator pitches from CRP Project Leaders
  • Learn about the contribution to industry made by completed CRP projects
  • Discover the latest technological developments in engineering, materials and manufacturing by taking part in interactive panel sessions
  • Connect, and network, with fellow Industrial Members and technical experts at TWI to discuss challenges faced by your organisation and how TWI can help

An accompanying technical poster exhibition will provide a comprehensive overview of the CRP projects that have started this year, as well as the newly launched short-term projects, handpicked by the CRP Directors through the new Rapid Proposal Call (RPC). These short term projects are based on novel ideas that require a smaller funding level to develop them into higher technology readiness levels (TRLs). You will also have the opportunity to meet National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC) PhD students who are funded by the CRP, and learn about the cutting-edge research projects they are working on and the anticipated impact on industry.

Please note, this event is for TWI Industrial Members only and pre-registration is required.

What is the TWI Core Research Programme (CRP)?

TWI's Core Research Programme (CRP) is designed to meet the needs of our Industrial Member companies. Projects are selected that address the most significant challenges currently faced by TWI and its Industrial Members, in relation to specific technology areas and/or industry sectors that have been identified as being of critical interest to future operations. Each project has a duration of 1-3 years, depending on its scope, and is focused on either engineering, materials or manufacturing technologies.

The CRP also serves to expand on TWI and Industrial Members’ existing knowledge, harnessing innovative thinking and approaches to develop new skills, products and services, systems and processes, leading to reduced costs, and improved quality, safety and reliability.
