Meet the TWI Team at JEC World 2024

TWI is pleased to announce that they will be exhibiting at JEC 2024 in Paris, France on 5-7 March.

JEC is the world's leading event on composite materials and their applications and will be hosting  all the major companies in the industry.

Dr Chris Worrall - Technology Fellow and Consultant – Polymer Composite Technologies

Dr Chris Worrall

Technology Fellow and Consultant – Polymer Composite Technologies

Chris is an expert in composite materials and a Consultant and Technology Fellow at TWI. His 35 year career covers: joining, mechanical behaviour, fire testing, finite element analysis, electromagnetic surface waves and metamaterials. Chris started his career in the oil and gas industry participating in the Marinetech North West project, and also spent 10 years working in Japan in the automotive, aerospace and energy sectors. He has presented guest lectures at Cambridge, Liverpool and Surrey University, and holds the position of ‘Engineer in Residence’ at Liverpool university. Recently, Chris has been supporting the Non-metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) in providing non-metallic solutions for the oil and gas industry.

Sofia Sampethai - Project Leader - Condition and Structural Health Monitoring

Sofia Sampethai

Project Leader - Condition and Structural Health Monitoring

Sofia is a Project Leader at TWI in the Condition and Structural Health Monitoring section. She is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Welding Institute. She has studied Chemical Engineering and her MSc was carried out at ETH Zurich in the department of Process Engineering. Sofia manages funded collaborative projects, including Innovate UK, FP7 and H2020, and the majority of them are in the areas of condition monitoring, sensor development targeting composites failure, and integrity monitoring for casings used in oil and gas industry. She has also been involved in proposal writing for European and national funded projects, and in developing partnerships within industry. Sofia’s work is focused on the research and development of innovative solutions in the area of condition and structural health monitoring.

Neelmanee Sarin - Composites Engineer

Composites Engineer

Neelmanee holds a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in composite materials. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to advancing the composites industry by providing innovative and sustainable material solutions. Neelmanee's core expertise lies in the domain of polymer composite process development, designing, joining, and testing. 

Stuart Lewis - Principal Project Leader, ACA

Stuart Lewis

Principal Project Leader, ACA

An automotive engineer by degree, which developed into a specialism into adhesives and joining through post-grad work at both Oxford Brookes and Cranfield Universities. Armed with an MPhil from Oxford Brookes, Stuart joined GKN Aerospace and used these skills to solve adhesion problems and develop new product solutions for aircraft ice protection systems. The last five years of his time were spent preparing a new thermoplastic system for flight test.
