Important weld parameters for thermoplastic hot plate welds

Frequently Asked Questions

The important parameters for hot plate welding are:

  • the dwell/changeover time
  • the temperature of the hot plate
  • the heat soak time
  • the welding pressure
  • the heat soak pressure
  • the welding time
  • the joining displacement
  • the cooling time

Recommended welding conditions vary depending on the material to be welded, and the wall thickness of the components.

Preparation for hot plate welding is also important. The parts to be joined must be flat and square to the heating tool. This is to avoid uneven heating of the component.
