Biodegradable adhesives are those systems that will eventually degrade through the action of external living agents such as fungi, bacteria or even animals. This action is often aided by other environmental agents such as UV radiation, hydrolysis, mineral acid/alkali reaction, erosion, etc. Examples of biodegradable adhesives include cellulosic systems, animal-derived systems and certain types of synthetic systems including some acrylics and cyanoacrylates.
