Welding and Cutting journal goes digital with new app

Fri, 22 December, 2017

Welding and Cutting journal is going digital with the release of a new app-based version of the publication for use on smartphones, tablets and computers. The new digital version will launch in 2018 and, while a printed version will still be produced, the digital version will include a range of additional benefits for readers.

The decision to create a digital version of the magazine was taken following a survey of The Welding Institute Members, who will be able to opt to receive either the digital or the physical hard-copy version.

The app-based version includes many additional features that are simply not possible with a printed publication. Not only will the app allow you to access several issues from your device, but a site map means that you can go directly to the page you wish to view. A keyword search also allows readers to find relevant articles and information quickly and a zoom function means that you won’t need your glasses to read what’s on offer.

While the active index allows you to go straight to your chosen article, the app also means that the digital publication is interactive, allowing you to watch videos, view pictures, listen to audio, or open any associated websites straight from your device.

The app is available as a free download for iOS, Android and Amazon (E-Books) and you can choose between a single issue or a subscription. It is also possible to read Welding and Cutting with a web version.

The Welding Institute will be gradually rolling out the app to members at the beginning of 2018. Any Welding Institute Members who don’t wish to take advantage of the new digital functionalities, and would rather stay with the printed version of Welding and Cutting should contact The Welding Institute.
