TWI continues to strengthen relations in Japan

Fri, 22 December, 2017

TWI continued to build on its strong relations in Japan when a number of senior staff headed to the TWI Tokyo Seminar. Held on 28th November, TWI Operations Director, Mike Russell joined by TWI Yorkshire’s Section Manager Jonathan Martin and Industry Group Manager Fred Delany to give a talk on ‘Recent Developments in Friction Welding at TWI.’ The full-day seminar, which was attended by 35 people from 25 companies, is an annual event held for TWI’s Members in Eastern Japan.

Two days later, on 30 November, the same TWI team headed across Japan to Kobe for the NIRO seminar. NIRO was set up following the Kobe earthquake of 1997 in order to boost the economic recovery of Western Japan, and 40 people attended this event including many Japanese heads of industry. The NIRO seminar was followed, on 4 December, by a 20th anniversary party held by NIRO, which was attended by Mike Russell.

The seminars at Kobe and Tokyo, alongside business visits during the week, helped initiate several projects and new Membership opportunities that will be followed up in the New Year.
