TWI expert witness and arbitration services

Mon, 18 December, 2017

When products, components or even entire structures fail, there can be serious consequences; these can be significant and have environmental and financial impact. Getting to the bottom of the cause of a failure can lead to legal and insurance cases being brought – whether related to defects, inappropriate operation, code compliance, fitness-for-purpose, or other causes.

TWI has many years of experience in providing expert witness and arbitration support for such occurrences, calling upon our industrial and technological expertise to provide assistance to our clients.

As an independent organisation, TWI can offer access to knowledge and impartial advice across all joining and associated techniques, as well as the structural integrity of fabricated structures and components from, for example, the power, oil and gas, construction and transport sectors.

Whether related to materials, joining, or structural integrity, TWI can provide technical assistance with your dispute.

A welding dispute can require detailed expertise associated with design, fatigue or metallurgy, for example, and TWI has the capability to help across a range of situations and disciplines.

TWI’s experts are available to travel the world, to gather on-site evidence, undertake testing (usually on TWI premises) to replicate failures and generate evidence-based reports. Dealing with several expert witness and arbitration cases at any given time, TWI’s experts are also willing to attend court to present their evidence.
