Enovate Systems Ltd is a leading provider of subsea well intervention and well control equipment. Enovate’s pioneering product range expands the capabilities and enhances the performance of Riserless Well Intervention Systems, Through Riser Intervention Systems, Open Water Well Intervention Systems and Through Rotary Drilling Systems. Enovate’s design philosophy ensures that all pressure containing surfaces wetted with well fluids are clad with a corrosion-resistant weld overlay/inlay to protect the base structural metal.
Enovate has been an Industrial Member of TWI for several years and in 2009 they established a welding engineering call-off contract, which is still running. With TWI’s assistance, Enovate has been able to ensure that the technical competence it required for reviewing, approving and controlling welding-related documentation submitted by welding contractors, was available at short notice.
Under the contract, TWI has reviewed and approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) in accordance with welding codes such as ASME IX, and with subsea industry codes such as ISO 10423, ISO 13628-7 and ISO 15156. TWI has also evaluated test results, assisted with weld repairs and, as required, acted as a mediator with Enovate’s welding contractors, to clarify and resolve any technical issues and non-compliances.
Enovate has benefited greatly from the professional and expert service offered by TWI and the prompt delivery of accurate and practical solutions. Following on from this work, Enovate has established an additional, separate technical support contract to develop and enhance the company’s material specifications.
