TWI's e-book provider is ebrary. We aim to build a growing collection to reflect the interests of all our members, both Industrial and individual. Click the button below to access ebrary. If you are a member of TWI and cannot see a button, please login to the site.
Once in ebrary you can directly browse titles without registering. If you register, you will be able to download portions of titles, annotate them and build up your personal 'bookcase' of TWI e-books.
TWI has a standards FAQ, where you can find explanations of what standards are, why they should be used, and how you can obtain copies. TWI also publishes news relating to standards updates. You can search our collection of standards via the library catalogue.
Document delivery service
What is TWI's document delivery service?
It's the supply of loans and photocopies of published material on joining-related subjects. TWI's library has a world-leading stock of publications which covers all forms of joining, metallic and non-metallic materials, engineering aspects of joining, non-destructive testing, corrosion, quality assurance and health & safety.
Who can use the service?
Industrial and Professional Members of TWI may have loans and copies. Associate and non-members may have copies only.
How should I identify what I need?
You can check the library catalogue to see what is in the library's stock, or you can search Weldasearch. This is TWI's bibliographic database covering information on welding and joining since 1968. If you are a Member you can also ask the library for help. Details of your requirements for photocopied material should be sent to TWI's library – contact us .
What happens if what I need is not in TWI's library?
We will do our best to direct you to another library or organisation which may be able to help.
How much does the service cost?
Photocopy charges are levied per article or chapter, and take account of your membership status, and whether the papers are for research/personal use or commercial use. TWI's library staff can provide full details. Please note that if you are a non-member your payment is required in advance.
TWI pays the outward postage on loan items. Return postage is the responsibility of the borrower.
How long does it take to receive loans and photocopies?
Loans are usually despatched within two working days. Photocopies are normally sent electronically and within three working days, or five working days if a list of more than 20 items is requested. Photocopies may be faxed or posted if preferred.
Are there restrictions on the supply of photocopies?
Under the provisions of the UK Copyright Act, 1998 and Statutory Instrument 2003 no. 2498, there are restrictions on what can be supplied to you. If your work is strictly for non-commercial research or private study we can provide you with one copy of one paper from a journal issue or up to five per cent of a book. If your work is for commercial purposes these restrictions do not apply but you must pay an additional copyright licence fee for every copy made.
There are sometimes further specific restrictions on supply of documents and you will be informed if there is a reason why an item cannot be supplied.
